Keeping your lathe clean can improve longevity. These are our four top tips to keeping your lathe running accurately for longer:
- Clean shavings from your lathe bedways every day. This may seem like basic maintenance, but it is often overlooked. Swarf buildup can clog your machine or become tangled in wires and shear them.
- Check the oil levels in the head stock, saddle and feed box. All of our gauges are clear so checking oil is easy. We recommend hydraulic 32 oil for our machines.
- Drain coolant, wash filters and replace coolant. This helps to prevent a buildup and ensures your coolant stays fresh.
- Check lathe spindle belts, make sure these are not lose or worn. We are able to supply spare belts if needed. Just get in touch with our team and let us know which belt you require.
